Not at all. Monster Tree Service® is a work from home franchise, with a yard or other storage area usually needed to store vehicles and equipment and to meet and dispatch your work crews.
How much liquid capital do I need?
We require that you have a minimum of $150,000 in liquid capital available and a minimum net worth of $500,000. To learn more about the Monster Tree Service® investment options that are available to you, including total investment and territory size, visit the Investment Options Page.
Do I need experience in the tree service industry?
Absolutely not. Our franchisees come from various backgrounds. If you are a sincere individual with adequate references, a good business head, have the ability to work well with people, and think you could manage your own business, we will teach you how to run a Monster Tree Service® franchise.
Do I need to work in the business full-time?
You do not. If the owner chooses to be a part of the day-to-day operations, he/she can work as a sales arborist or a manager of the tree crew. If the owner chooses to start semi-absentee, then they will be managing the manager. The owner is leading and directing the General Manager who is carrying out the day-to-day tasks.
Do I need to buy my own equipment?
No. You can choose to buy or lease vehicles and equipment, and these costs are included in our Initial Investment ranges described in our FDD. Monster Tree Service® wrapped and branded vehicles become rolling billboards and can further set you apart from the competition.

Will I need to climb trees?
We do not require a Monster Tree Service® franchise owners to work on trees and you don’t need to be an arborist. The heart of owning a Monster Tree Service® franchise is about building and managing a business and working well with people. For an overview of the franchise opportunity we are offering, start with the Why Monster? page.
Do you operate your own Monster Tree Service®?
Yes. To help make sure we remain knowledgeable in the tree care industry, we operate our own Monster Tree Service® and continually test new products, equipment, and marketing techniques – so you don’t have to – and then apply what we learn for the benefit of everyone in the Monster Tree Service system. This is a huge advantage compared to companies that just sell franchises. At Monster Tree Service®, we walk the walk and talk the talk.
What type of training do you offer?
A Monster Tree Service® franchise includes two full weeks of initial training, with one week of classroom and hands-on training in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, followed by another full week of onsite training at your location. Training continues throughout your term with ongoing education programs and regular onsite support.
Yes. The success of your business is our business, and nobody supports their franchisees better than we do. In addition to the initial training class, we provide onsite assistance during your opening, online training sessions, arborist continuing education, an annual conference, periodic onsite visits during the year, and much more.
What about competition? I see a lot of tree service trucks on the road.
Small, single-truck operators still dominate the Tree Care Industry. While there are some larger companies, owner/operators who both sell the job and perform the work are still doing most tree service. We believe that a Monster Tree Service® franchise offering exceptional service, branded image, and professionally designed Grand Opening and Monstrous Marketing Strategies has a competitive edge in the marketplace.
